Fun Facts
Why Is Your Age Different on Other Planets?
Your age depends on how many years have passed since you were born. On Earth, one year is the time it takes Earth to orbit the Sun.
Other planets orbit the Sun at different speeds. Mercury moves around the Sun quickly, so you would have many more Mercury birthdays. Jupiter takes much longer to orbit the Sun, so you would be much younger in Jupiter years.
How Planet Ages Are Calculated
The calculator works by converting your Earth age into days, then dividing that number by each planet’s orbital period.
Planet age = days since birth ÷ planet orbital period
For example:
| Planet | Length of Year |
|---|---|
| Mercury | 88 Earth days |
| Venus | 225 Earth days |
| Mars | 687 Earth days |
| Jupiter | 4,333 Earth days |
| Saturn | 10,759 Earth days |
| Neptune | 60,182 Earth days |
Why Mercury Makes You Older
Mercury has the shortest year of any planet in the Solar System. It takes only about 88 Earth days to complete one orbit around the Sun.
That means you would celebrate a Mercury birthday roughly four times per Earth year.
Why Jupiter Makes You Younger
Jupiter takes almost 12 Earth years to orbit the Sun once.
So someone who is 36 years old on Earth would only be about 3 Jupiter years old.
What About Mars Birthdays?
A year on Mars lasts about 687 Earth days, which is almost twice as long as an Earth year.
That means your Mars age is a little more than half your Earth age.
